Radares garmin poi loader6/6/2023 “Plant-based beverages are becoming increasingly popular in Thailand as people look to lessen their environmental impact and take care of their health. We believe this launch will help create a positive trend toward plant-based alternatives,” says Chaiyong Sakulborrirug, business executive officer, dairy & adult nutrition, Nestlé Thailand. Nestlé was one of several financial backers in a US$4 million seed round for Sundial Foods, a plant-based meats company mimicking chicken wings, in November 2021. Sundial Wings creates fully plant-based skin, meat and bone chicken wings pegged as going “beyond meat.” The California-based vegan start-up expects its chicken wings to be available in US restaurants in spring 2022. Nestlé is focused on developing a wide variety of dairy alternatives made from pea, rice, oat, soy, coconut and almonds. The company’s R&D center in Singapore serves as the regional innovation hub for the development of plant-based meat and dairy alternatives in Asia. The center contributes significantly to the innovation of dairy alternatives for both powdered and ready-to-drink beverages, both regionally and globally. Nestlé’s R&D center in Singapore is a hub for the development of plant-based meat and dairy alternatives in Asia. “We're expanding our plant-based offerings with nutritious, tasty, products that complement the everyday diet of people in Asia for many different meal occasions. We leverage our expertise in dairy proteins, nutrition science, plant sciences, as well as culinary arts, to adapt the products to local preferences and needs,” says Guglielmo Bonora, head of Nestlé’s R&D center in Singapore. The new Milo Soy has strong nutritional values. A 180ml carton offers around 5g of protein, is high in calcium and contains vitamins and minerals. The carton is designed for recycling and comes with a paper straw. The need for plant-based dairy alternatives that taste great and offer strong nutritional value is rising as more families are following this trend. More than 40% of consumers in the Asia region are shifting to more plant-based diets, with 11% opting for vegetarian and vegan food and a third moving to a 'flexitarian' diet that is lighter on meat and dairy products, the company reports. Recently Nestlé highlighted its reformulation efforts following UK media reports that 60% of the company’s portfolio did not meet a “recognized definition of health.” The company began a project to update its pioneering nutrition and health strategy. The very first beverage you can easily create is of course a cup of smoothie. We’ve tasted Peanut Butter and Chocolate, but have you guys ever thought of making a cup of Peanut Butter Milkshake with MILO instead? This cup will leave you wanting more and requires only 3 ingredients! Pour all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth Here’s how you can make MILO Berry Yogurt Smoothie.Ĥ0g strawberry and blueberry (fresh or frozen) But not just ordinary MILO smoothie, it’s one that has a berrylicious twist. Pour all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with celery and serve cold.Īside from loving MILO, everyone also loves Matcha. There’s something about Matcha and its earthy fragrance that makes it soul-soothing. Well, you can combine these two and create the ultimate calming beverage.Īdd all ingredients into a pot and boil. I've tried putting the file into a subfolder in order to create a sub category called "Hot Springs." It doesn't show up in the Oregon. This next recipe makes the perfect Christmas beverage or just when you feel like reliving Christmas all over again.Īdd all ingredients into a pot and boil. I'm pretty sure that is due to the icon not being in 8-bit file format, and I'm trying to figure out how to allow Photoshop to open the 8 bit option to me.īut my other surprise/question: When converting a GPX file of waypoints made from Basecamp, shouldn't the POI loader preserve the original icons of the waypoints? I wasn't using custom icons originally, so why wouldn't it set to display the matching icon that already exists on the GPS device? Created the BMP file, but it doesn't display right. In addition, they don't sort into a category (even a Custom POI category) for easier browsing/searching. But, they appear as little grey dots, which are not easy to see on the map. I installed the Garmin POI Loader and it converted the GPX file with all of the hot spring waypoints no problem. I've decided to play around with moving my massive 1600 waypoint collection of US hot springs over to a POI file.

Warped reality terminology6/6/2023 A camera may be mounted onto the head-worn display device to capture images or videos of the scene being viewed by the user.Ĭurrent optical systems, such as those in MR systems, optically render virtual content. The transparent element, often referred to as a “combiner,” superimposes light from the display over the user's view of the real world, where light from the display projects an image of virtual content over the see-through view of the real objects in the environment. With an “optical see-through” display, a user can see through transparent (or semi-transparent) elements in a display system to view directly the light from real objects in an environment. Head-worn display devices that enable AR provide concurrent viewing of both real and virtual objects. If the head-worn display device is used to present multiple virtual objects, measurements of head pose can be used to render the scene to match the user's dynamically changing head pose and provide an increased sense of immersion. If the user's head motions are detected by the display device, the data being displayed can be updated to take the change in head pose (i.e., the orientation and/or location of user's head) into account.Īs an example, if a user wearing a head-worn display device views a virtual representation of a virtual object on the display device and walks around an area where the virtual object appears, the virtual object can be rendered for each viewpoint, giving the user the perception that they are walking around an object that occupies real space. MR systems typically employ wearable display devices (e.g., head-worn displays, helmet-mounted displays, or smart glasses) that are at least loosely coupled to a user's head, and thus move when the user's head moves. 27, 2014 (attorney docket number ML.20011.00), the contents of which are hereby expressly and fully incorporated by reference in their entirety, as though set forth in full. Some such optical systems are described in U.S. Various optical systems generate images at various depths for displaying MR (VR and AR) scenarios. Accordingly, AR scenarios involve presentation of digital or virtual image information with transparency to the real-world visual input. An AR scenario typically involves presentation of digital or virtual image information as an augmentation to visualization of the real-world around the user (i.e., transparency to real-world visual input). A VR scenario typically involves presentation of digital or virtual image information without transparency to actual real-world visual input. Modern computing and display technologies have facilitated the development of “mixed reality” (MR) systems for so called “virtual reality” (VR) or “augmented reality” (AR) experiences, wherein digitally reproduced images or portions thereof are presented to a user in a manner wherein they seem to be, or may be perceived as, real. 2nd century ad wars6/6/2023 These connections are reflected, for example, in the sculptural styles of Gandhara (modern-day Pakistan and northern India) and Gaul (modern-day France), both influenced by the Hellenistic styles popularized by the Romans.ĭepartment of Ancient Near Eastern Art. New inventions, religious beliefs, artistic styles, languages, and social customs, as well as goods and raw materials, were transmitted by people moving from one place to another to conduct business. The trade routes were the communications highways of the ancient world. They also became cultural and artistic centers, where peoples of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds could meet and intermingle. Some, like Palmyra and Petra on the fringes of the Syrian Desert, flourished mainly as centers of trade supplying merchant caravans and policing the trade routes. Another important trade route, known as the Incense Route, was controlled by the Arabs, who brought frankincense and myrrh by camel caravan from South Arabia.Ĭities along these trade routes grew rich providing services to merchants and acting as international marketplaces. These goods were transported over vast distances- either by pack animals overland or by seagoing ships-along the Silk and Spice Routes, which were the main arteries of contact between the various ancient empires of the Old World. China, for example, supplied West Asia and the Mediterranean world with silk, while spices were obtained principally from South Asia. Some areas had a monopoly on certain materials or goods. The trade routes served principally to transfer raw materials, foodstuffs, and luxury goods from areas with surpluses to others where they were in short supply. Some of these trade routes had been in use for centuries, but by the beginning of the first century A.D., merchants, diplomats, and travelers could (in theory) cross the ancient world from Britain and Spain in the west to China and Japan in the east. Long-distance trade played a major role in the cultural, religious, and artistic exchanges that took place between the major centers of civilization in Europe and Asia during antiquity.

Ebert camp blood island6/6/2023 It is set in August 1945, taking place at a concentration camp located in Blood Island. Thrilling and stirring film about the prisoners of a Japanese Concentration Camp in which they are submitted to severe tortures, punishments and grisly executions by beheading. ("Bridge on the River Kwai" actually goes further in this respect.) But there is never any doubt that the prisoners' situation is horrific, and that ultimately they are prepared to throw lives away in a desperate attempt at group survival. This is not torture porn - the worst that we see is machine-gunning, plus one clean beheading. For a film that was condemned on release for its 'orgy of atrocities', "The Camp on Blood Island" is actually quite restrained in what is implied, let alone shown on screen: the horrors and Japanese 'bestiality' are as much psychological, based on petty humiliation and anticipation, as anything else. The former planter Van Elst, driven to repeated risky sabotage. Father Paul, jeopardising his life and his cloth to pass messages via the medium of the funeral Mass. Lambert himself, and the fretful diplomat Beattie, chafing under what he sees as the military mishandling of their situation. But unsurprisingly this is a male-dominated film, and all the really intriguing characters are male. Barbara Shelley, playing Kate, does appear rather too healthy in her close-ups for the degree of weakness and collapse she is supposed to portray during her escape. The prisoners in the women's camp are, perhaps inevitably, shown as rather more glamorous than their male counterparts, with their fetching dishevelment a token gesture towards the starvation and illness stated in the script. Andre Morell, of course, dominates the film as the obstinate and authoritarian Colonel Lambert, and in a sense the plot structure consists of gradually justifying his seemingly unreasonable behaviour - but it is not that simplistic, and the revelation of the final consequences of his decisions (was it, ultimately, all unnecessary?) leaves a note of deliberate ambiguity. There is some fine acting on display, both from the actors playing the Japanese, who convey a sense of alien culture without becoming ridiculous, and those portraying the physically drained and starving prisoners: the opening shots of the young man struggling to dig his own grave are actively disturbing, both for his apparent emaciation and for his dragging movements of utter collapse. It's a decent and sometimes brave picture (even the women are shown hounding the suspected collaborator in their midst) but it doesn't hold the same seeds of greatness. In some ways this Hammer production suffers less from political compromise, not being required to introduce an American leading actor for the benefit of the US box office, but it has to be said that whatever flaws may exist in David Lean's film, "The Camp on Blood Island" is ultimately no competition. The links with "Bridge on the River Kwai" go further than just the Japanese prison-camp setting and the presence of Andre Morell there is the same theme of the commanding officer whose behaviour seems increasingly unreasonable in the face of the prisoners' privations, the lone American contrasted with the starved Commonwealth soldiers, and a morally ambiguous ending.

Amazon to buy podcast maker wondery6/6/2023 today said that it has signed a deal to buy Wondery Inc., a venture-backed podcast startup with a reported audience of 20 million monthly listeners. (A representative for Amazon Music declined to share updated figures but said the podcast’s monthly numbers have “grown exponentially month over month” since the February launch.) Though new and existing episodes of Strange, Dark and Mysterious will now be housed exclusively on Amazon Music, Allen will still be able to upload content to his YouTube channels: MrBallen, with 6.7 million subscribers, and MrBallen Shorts, a separate channel dedicated to shorter-form content with 2.1 million Inc. The show originated on YouTube in March 2020, when Allen - usually seen wearing a backwards baseball cap and flannel shirt - began recounting “DISTURBING” and “TERRIFYING” (all-caps included) stories on the video platform and quickly built a dedicated fan following.īy February of this year, Allen launched the podcast version of his show - sans video - and found quick success as of June, Strange, Dark and Mysterious was generating nearly 7 million monthly downloads as a podcast while Allen’s YouTube videos brought in more than 40 million monthly views, according to The Verge. The MrBallen Podcast has become a runaway hit since launching as a podcast in February, topping charts on both Apple Podcasts and Spotify in the true-crime category. Working with Amazon Music allows us to do just that,” Allen said. I will always be dedicated to bringing them the best, and continually raising the bar with the art of storytelling. “The Strange, Dark and Mysterious community is the only reason I have the platform that I do today. Amazon - with its Amazon Studios, Prime Video and Prime shopping arms - would naturally be poised to support those expansions. In a statement shared on Tuesday, Allen said Ballen Studios has ambitions to expand into TV, film, books and games. Amazon will also have the first-look rights to new ventures from Allen’s media company, Ballen Studios, which counts former Night Media manager Nick Witters as its CEO and former Cadence13 executive vp Steve Cohen as its head of sales. The three-year deal with Allen, brokered by UTA, is also expansive for a homegrown podcast creator in that it doesn’t end with audio. Now, the tech giant is placing its exclusivity bets on Allen and the Ballen brand, hoping that the rising star can burnish its audio streaming platform as it competes with Spotify and Apple for listeners and talent. In turn, Amazon - which certainly has the money to spend - would get a slice of these shows’ lucrative ad businesses and build its reputation as a go-to place for top creators turned off by the prospects of a walled garden, which could potentially result in a decline in listenership and reach. In competing with Spotify, which set the standard for exclusive podcasts through its multimillion-dollar deals with Joe Rogan and Alex Cooper, Amazon appeared to be forging down a different path by offering talent the best of both worlds: the multimillion-dollar riches of an exclusive deal, without the major commitment.
